Bob & Suzanne’s
Wind Rider Equestrian Challenge™,
presented by Bob Jeffreys &
Suzanne Sheppard at the Mid Tennessee Horsefest March
15 & 16 2008 at Williamson County Ag
Center, Franklin, TN, is open to riders 14 years or
older from all disciplines including western,
dressage, hunter/jumpers, trail riders, natural horsemen,
gaited horse riders and more. In the initial
round on Saturday, up to 20 riders will compete with
their own horses on a course that includes
challenges drawn from gymkhana, dressage, reining patterns,
jousting, gaited horse events, trail
obstacles, cavalletti patterns, hunter pace courses,
etc. For the final challenge on Sunday, the
two
top scoring participants will rank as finalists and
will be paired randomly with Bob or Suzanne
for a 2-5 minute freestyle!
Our guest judges bring many years of experience with
horses and riders of all breeds and
disciplines, and we are delighted to have them lend
their expertise to this competition!
The cross disciplinary course will consist of a pattern
including some of the following
elements: circles cantered on the correct lead
with speed control (or circles in gait with speed
control for gaited breeds), a 2 foot jump, trotting
or gaiting while balancing an object in one
hand, backing through and around barrels, sidepassing,
ground poles, balanced halts, turn on
the haunches or turnarounds, leg yielding, open/close
a gate, and a ring joust.
Judges
will award points based on:
• accuracy
• the horse’s willingness
• good horsemanship
• equitation
If you and your
horse can perform these maneuvers and you want to show
off your
teamwork in front of an audience, then you are great
candidates for participation!
The two top scoring finalists will draw straws to be
paired with Bob or Suzanne and
compete for the title of “Wind Rider Champion”
in the final rounds on Sunday. Only the competitor
will be scored: Bob & Suzanne there to help you
show your best with your horse and therefore will
not be scored. The final round will include
a new challenge course and a 2-5 minute freestyle
by each team!
Bob & Suzanne will announce the final challenge
course to all participants when the
finalists are announced Saturday evening. In the finals,
judges will select the Wind Rider Grand
Champion and Wind Rider Reserve Champion based on criteria
provided by Bob Jeffreys and
Suzanne Sheppard.
